The OASIS-C1 Draft has been released!

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the proposed version of the OASIS-C1 in the Federal Register dated June 21, 2013. The OASIS-C1 Draft reflects changes necessary to accommodate the use of the ICD-10-CM coding set required beginning October 1, 2014. There are also changes addressing issues raised by stakeholders, including updating clinical concepts, modifying item wording and responses to improve clarity and to reduce the burden associated with OASIS data collection. The proposed changes include removal of items not currently being used by CMS for payment, quality measures or risk adjustment.

The comment period ends on August 20, 2013. To review the notice, go to the Federal Register.

The OASIS-C1 draft, supporting statements, comparison documents and burden calculation can be found here, just scroll to CMS-R-245.

Quality In Real Time will be reviewing the changes and preparing comments for submission.
